Future placements & Career Plans

I think that it would be good to have another placement in the studio, perhaps setting up the studio for a four piece band, or artists with more instruments to see how it compares to recording a vocalist with backing tracks. It might be a good idea to also look into the process of mixing and mastering recorded music. As this is closely linked with recording and the process of making a cd or album.
I think that given some more time in a studio, behind the desk, I could consider a career in recording and or mixing music. I think that it is quite a creative process and allows for many opportunities to meet new people such as musicians and recording companies.

What Have I learnt? Was the placement sucessful?

I think that this placement was sucessful in some ways, however, It could have been more practical.
I feel that we could have been shown more in the way of setting up the microphone for the vocalist and also setting up the computer in terms of recording. Although, Digby and Shaun commented on the process of recording and explained and demonstrated the use of compression and reverb effects. It would have been constructive for us to of had a go at setting up and gain experience in using studio equipment. However, at the same time, the vocalist was a paying customer so it was probably better in terms if time, to let the professionals work away and for us to observe the session.
However, I do feel that I have gained some more knowledge regarding studio sound and the various components used whilst recording, for example, compression, reverb.
Overall, it was a pleasant experience and was a good insight into the basic recording process in the studio.
